Acaya Golf Club - Golf course information & golf travel offers
Acaya Golf Club is set right in the heart of Salento, amidst age-old olive trees, Mediterranean vegetation and the wild countryside. It is located 40 kilometres from Brindisi’s airport and 15 kilometres from the center of Lecce, a Baroque city of breathtaking beauty, close to the crystal-clear waters of the sea and Le Cesine WWF nature reserve.
The history of the Apulian golf club dates back to 1996, but those who visited it before 2007 will barely recognize it. After being closed for two years for renovation, hardly anything is as it was back then. The hotel is now at the center of golf activities, the 18-hole course was completely redesigned by the American firm Hurdzan/Fry Environmental Golf Design (the same in charge of restyling the Royal Park I Roveri) and the clubhouse occupies an annex of the hotel.
The course is often influenced by winds that can be rather intense and changeable. One day you might use a six-iron to reach the green, while the next day a three-wood: a real challenge for both average as well as expert players, with water flanking eight holes out of eighteen. All of this surrounded by intact Mediterranean scrub with exquisite blooming Cistus and rosemary.
