Your travel plan:
Tuscany is located in central Italy and stretches from the Apennines to the Tyrrhenian Sea. The landscape, the artistic heritage and the outstanding cities – especially Florence – make Tuscany an undisputed protagonist of international tourism. In this region, nature has many different facets, starting with the coast, which alternates long and sandy beaches, such as the Versilia beach, with rocky cliffs and steep headlands. The islands of the Tuscan archipelago, surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, crystal clear sea and rich seabed, are unique. You can admire unspoilt landscapes in the Apuan Alps and in several protected areas such as the lagoon of Orbetello, which is home to many species of migratory birds, including egrets. However, the most typical landscapes of the region are those that combine the beauty of nature with the millennial work of man. The amazing Gulf of Baratti and the sites of Vetulonia, Vulci and Pitigliano guard necropolises and remains of the Etruscan civilisation, while Roselle and Cosa evoke memories of Roman times. Medieval villages, historic towns, castles and defences, country churches (called pievi) and beautiful abbeys like that of Sant’ Antimo are scattered throughout the territory and their profiles stand out in the landscapes of the Crete Senesi , Orcia Valley, Garfagnana, Chianti and the Maremma. Finally, Tuscany is full of spas: Montecatini, Saturnia, Montepulciano, Monsummano and Bagno Vignoni, which offer a relaxing holiday thanks to their thermal waters and well-equipped facilities for all types of treatments. The provinces of the region are: Florence (regional capital), Arezzo, Grosseto, Livorno, Lucca, Massa Carrara, Pisa, Pistoia, Prato and Siena. Some of the most beautiful golf courses in Italy can be found in Tuscany – Golf in Tuscany has all the things for a wonderful golfing holiday. The temperate climate means that golf can be played almost all year round and with many golf clubs, Tuscany will certainly not tire you out. The impressive slightly hilly nature also offers a few challenging golf courses. In total, there are around 30 golf clubs in Tuscany. Among the best golf courses in Tuscany are the Golf & Country Club Le Pavoniere, Royal Golf La Bagnaia and the Golf Club Punta Ala. Golf in Tuscany also promises some of the finest golf hotels in Italy, for example Toscana Resort Castelfalfi, Argentario Golf Resort & Spa and Terme di Saturnia Spa & Golf. An outstanding golf resort in Tuscany is certainly the Toscana Resort Castelfalfi. This golf hotel is not only a luxurious venue for outstanding golf holidays in Italy, but also has one of the most beautiful courses in Tuscany: 27 holes make this course one of the most spectacular in the region. When golfing in Tuscany, don’t miss visiting the capitol city of the region: Florence. This city is known as the cradle of the Renaissance, a very important period that marked the beginning of the world as we know and live it today. It is said that one week in Florence is not enough if you want to explore all the sights. Florence is a great place to start your golf holiday in Tuscany, as there are around 10 golf clubs in the surroundings. Of particular note is the Le Pavoniere Golf & Country Club. This 18-hole golf course, designed by Arnold Palmer, located about 20 kilometres from Florence, is one of the best golf clubs in Tuscany and challenges everyone to keep their score together. As mentioned earlier, Tuscany is known for its very good wines: it is indeed considered one of the best wine regions in the world, along with the Italian region of Piedmont. When you play golf in Tuscany, don’t be surprised to find vineyards right next to the golf course. Some golf courses even have their own vineyard, which gives you the opportunity to taste top wines right on the spot, where they are matured in the sun.

Golf Club Punta AlaGolf club page 20.09. — green fee per player: Green Fee 18 Holes (10:00)
Punta Ala Golf Club was established in 1964, with a specific inclination towards tourism, which has been kept over the years, far from the big cities and nestled in a renowned seaside resort, just North of Grosseto. From the very beginning it has been second home of Italian players who have written many pages in the history of golf and who, on these undulated and narrow fairways, have been spending many summers improving their game. The strength of the clubhouse is its panoramic position: from the terrace and from the dining room you can enjoy stunning views over the Gulf of Follonica and over the 1st and 10th holes. The course was designed within the 66 hectares of the estate by Giulio Cavalsani with many elevated greens and technical difficulties which make it greatly appreciated even by the hardest to please players. The fairways run among the natural environment typical of the Tuscan Maremma, through oaks, maritime pines, holm oaks and arbutus bushes. A peculiarity of the course is also the greens’ grain, moving always towards the sea: so, sometimes, a downhill putt has to be played as if a level or even an uphill one and vice versa. Technical Details Course: 18 holes, Par 72, 6168 meters Architect: Giulio Cavalsani Pro’s comments 18 sensational holes, opened to the public in 1964, distinguished by gentle differences in height, narrow and high sloped fairways, but rather large and welcoming greens. Some beautiful views at the 1st and 7th holes, where the backdrop of the sea enhances two downhill tee-shots to the not overly large fairways. The other holes, nestled in the woods of holm-oaks, cork trees and maritime pines are also very intriguing and challenging. It is essential to be able to play upslope or downslope: you will rarely find the ball completely on even ground!more details

The attention to detail enhances the quality of the field: the green in Paspalum Vaginatum seed, variety Pure Dinasty, drought and salt resistant, the fairway in Bermuda variety Monaco and the rough in Festuca Arundinacea make these greens unique and are always guaranteed green thanks to three lakes and three artesian wells that surround the entire area.
Golf Club ToscanaGolf club page 24.09. — green fee per player: Green Fee 18 Holes weekdays, week ends & bank holidays (10:00)
The 18 holes of Toscana were conceived by the well-known british designer Keith Preston and they have been inaugurated in 1999. Some years later, in 2003, it has been recognized as one of the best ten courses in Italy and it hosts the Alp Tour and several Pro Arms. The course is not particularly long, but it requires precision: there are a lot of water hazards which represent a trap for the players, but, on the other way, their presence enhances the beauty of the place, fairways are always green and cared of, even in the hottest summer season. Each hole has its own character and the fairways are huge. The course is pleasant and sometimes sweetly hilly and offers an amusing and spectacular play. Technical Details Course: 18 holes, Par 71, 5852 meters Architect: Keith Preston Topography: flat at the beginning and then very hilly. Huge greens and a lot of water hazards. Distinctive features: the sport equipment has to be complete: good Quality drivers, precise golf clubs and the best putters. Skill, flexibility And concentration are the qualities needed to play on these greens. Pro’s comments Amidst the Maremma hills, the Golf Club Toscana is technically demanding and full of obstacles. There are water hazards on at least 9 holes. The greens are mostly large, but undulating and difficult to read. There are also various out of bounds near the fairways. The most beautiful view is guaranteed on the tee of the 18th hole, from here you can see as far as the island of Elba, simply wonderful!more details
