Italy certainly needs no presentation to attract tourists from every part of the world, as almost 50 million foreigners visit our country every year. However, despite being the “royal and ancient” game which had already made landfall on the Italian peninsula at the end of the 1800s, the idea of playing on Italian golf courses is relatively unknown abroad. This is surely destined to change now. Owing to being assigned the 2022 Ryder Cup, Italian golf has now finally earned the visibility it deserves and will lay claim to a place on the world map of must-visit destinations for fans of this sport.
Mid-December 2015, the European Tour, the PGAs of Europe and the PGA Tour chose the city of Rome and the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club from amongst a group of prestigious candidates including Spain, Austria and Germany, to host the match between Europe and the United States to be held in September 2022.
Golf boasts a strong tradition in many parts of the world, and in particular, in Anglo-Saxon countries. In fact, choosing Italy as host country was indeed a surprise, leading to this question: does Italy, the Bel paese, have the high level of golf courses necessary to host an event of world-class importance? The answer? And how! Come discover the quality of the itineraries first by browsing our website or thumbing through our catalogue which, in 21 years of existence, has continued to grow with new and increasingly attractive proposals, and then in person, with a trip organized down to the smallest details dedicated to sport, relaxation, culture and fine cuisine.
We at Italia Golf & More have always believed in the potential of Italian golf. With 417 facilities (98 with 9 holes, 116 with 18 holes, 15 with 27 holes and 9 with 36 holes) scattered all over the country, near art cities or along the coast, in the mountains or looking over lakes, we can easily affirm that each golfer can find the situation that best fits his or her tastes. And the numbers are starting to prove us right: reservations from abroad are growing exponentially, as are international accolades; Golf World Magazine, for example, has placed no less than ten Italian destinations in its Top 100 Golf Courses in Continental Europe selection published in September 2016.
