Among the 9 holes courses, this surely is one of the best of Italy, in the luxuriant pine forest of San Rossore Natural Park: the largest unspoiled area of Mediterranean scrubland of Italy, a stone's throw from the sea.
A stunning view, but not only: Golf Course Tirrenia matches all the requirements of the more skilled golfer. High technical standards, many hazards, a mild climate which lets you play all year round, uncontaminated nature, peace and tranquility, plus a warm welcome that makes you feel at home.
The game here is always challenging and stimulating: the tee areas are located deep into the trees, there are small greens and slightly undulated fairways, not to mention the long distances of the tee shots (for instance, the 9 hole is a 401m par 4 from the yellow tees).
The tree canopies are so thick that you can't see the sea, but the beaches are only 1 Km away; art heritage cities like Lucca and San Miniato are less than a 45 minute drive, Pisa and its leaning tower only 25.
Point of view of PGA Pro Giorgio Merletti:
Some years ago, Golf Digest magazine designated Golf Club Tirrenia the best 9 hole golf club in Italy. A good introduction, indeed. Running into the pine forest of the San Rossore Natural Park, the course is harmonious and challenging. Very demanding are the rescue-strokes when you miss the greens, because they are extremely narrow and small. The complications come at the end: the 8th and 9th holes are quite long, narrow and tricky; a bogey could be accepted even by the most talented players.
